Kenneth W. VanHouten

Kenneth W. VanHouten, Sr., 61, of Farmington, Ill. died at 12:09 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2000 at Graham Hospital in Canton.
Mr. VanHouten was born December 14, 1938 in Farmington, the son of Howard T. and Helen V. (Westerby) VanHouten. He married Artis Welker on June 14, 1958 in Farmington, and she survives.
He was a 40-year coal miner, retiring in 1998. He last worked for Freeman United Coal Co. in Industry, Ill.
He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge, Hanna City Sportsmans Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation and the Pinckneyville Eagles Lodge.
Other survivors include a son, Kenneth W. VanHouten Jr. of Canton; two daughters, Karen Bishop of Farmington and Helen Francie Baker of Pinckneyville; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Ronald Zeke VanHouten of Farmington, Thomas Amos VanHouten of Monetery, Jim A. VanHouten of Farmington and John Butch VanHouten of Farmington; and two sisters, Diane Morton of Farmington and Vicki Feger of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Howard T. VanHouten.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2000 at the Anderson-Sedgewick Funeral Home in Farmington with the Rev. David Swain officiating. Visitation was Sunday evening. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Farmington Rescue Squad.
